Flodesk Review 2026: Pricing, Free Plan & Checkout

A documentation-based Flodesk review covering subscriber-based prices, free-plan limits, creator workflows, checkout eligibility, migration, and cancellation.

Research method: Official pricing, billing, workflow, checkout, and export documentation checked October 6, 2026. No hands-on sending, deliverability, conversion, or checkout benchmark was performed; the score is an editorial fit assessment.

Key takeaways

1

New Flodesk plans scale with billable subscribers. The permanent Free tier collects a list but does not send campaigns; legacy Unlimited and trial access are different offers.

2

At 1,000 subscribers the annual-billing display is Lite $19, Pro $25, Everything $49/month; verify checkout, taxes, growth thresholds, and limited-time bonuses.

3

Checkout eligibility, the newer Products rollout, consent states, and the export/cancellation plan matter as much as visual email design.

Design-led email marketing

Editorial fit score — not a benchmark

8.4/ 10

"Flodesk suits design-led creator email, but subscriber-based prices, a no-send free plan, workflow tiers, and checkout eligibility need checking before buying."

Pricing

At 1,000 subscribers: Lite $19, Pro $25, Everything $49/month displayed with annual billing; monthly $25/$28/$54. Prices grow with billable subscribers; taxes and Stripe processing are separate.

Why we love it

  • Paid plans combine email design, forms, segmentation, and unlimited email sends, allowing a creator to model subscriber cost separately from sending frequency.
  • Pro's documented unlimited workflows and footer-branding control offer a clearer upgrade boundary than assuming every automation requires the highest plan.
  • The detailed billing guide identifies billable contact statuses, growth notifications, and different monthly-versus-annual adjustment rules.

What to watch for

  • The continuing Free plan builds a list but cannot send email or run workflows; temporary trial access is not the permanent free feature set.
  • New accounts do not receive the old unlimited-subscriber flat-rate deal. Automatic subscriber-tier increases can change the bill, including during an annual term.
  • Lite's one-workflow and Pro's one-checkout offers are marked limited-time bonuses. The newer Products experience has different terminology and staged availability.

Who should buy Flodesk?

Creators who need branded campaigns, opt-in forms, and a manageable follow-up workflow.
Small service businesses that have mapped their subscriber growth and required workflow tier.
Eligible digital-product sellers whose delivery and recurring-payment needs fit the current commerce experience.
Teams willing to test confirmation, repeat-entry, buyer exclusion, and suppression handling before migration.

Who should skip Flodesk?

Buyers requiring permanent free email sending rather than free list building.
New customers budgeting from another creator's legacy unlimited-subscriber bill.
Businesses outside the documented Checkout locations or requiring full shipping-fee collection.
Teams assuming a subscriber CSV restores every design, automation, and checkout in another tool.

What is Flodesk?

Flodesk is an email-marketing and creator-commerce platform built around campaigns, audience collection, and visual presentation. It is worth shortlisting when a newsletter promotes a service, course, template, or other small-business offer and the owner wants those activities connected. The buying question is not whether attractive templates exist; it is whether the plan supports the recurring campaign, segmentation, consent, and sales workflow you actually need. Our email marketing category provides the wider landscape without assuming one platform fits every business model.

Separate newsletter publishing, marketing automation, and transactional delivery. A paid publication may be better served by Substack or Beehiiv; account-verification and password-reset messages belong to a different evaluation, covered in our Resend vs Postmark guide. This review examines Flodesk's documented marketing offer, not an API-based app-mail replacement. The methodology is documentary: official sources were checked October 6, 2026, and suggested evaluations below were not performed as hands-on product tests.

The conditional attraction is a coherent creator workflow rather than an objective speed or revenue advantage. List the first three recurring jobs: collect a lead, deliver a promised resource, and send the appropriate follow-up. Then add the negative cases: unconfirmed email, prior unsubscribe, duplicate signup, and a buyer who should not receive a sales sequence. A tool fits when these cases are understandable to its future operator, not merely when the editor produces a polished first email.

Key Features

Campaign Design

Templates, custom layouts, and branding tools support visual campaigns. Test mobile rendering, readable text, image blocking, and your actual content instead of inferring conversion rates from a template gallery.

Forms and Opt-In

Hosted and embedded forms build the audience. Double opt-in and marketing-consent choices need a deliberate configuration; a purchase and permission to receive promotional emails are different events.

Subscriber Segments

Segment membership supports relevant campaigns and workflow entry. Multiple segments do not create duplicate billable subscribers, but an unengaged person may still have an Active billable status.

Workflow Automation

Documented triggers include forms, segments, purchases, and eligible abandoned carts. Repeat-entry settings and exit conditions matter; removing a contact from a trigger segment does not stop an existing run.

Digital Commerce

Checkout and the rolling-out Products experience support different plan allowances. Verify Stripe, legal business location, delivery setup, and one-time versus subscription selling before replacing another storefront.

Audience Export

Audience or segment CSV exports include non-marketable statuses as well as active subscribers. Preserve suppression and consent distinctions, and document automations separately for migration.

Pricing in 2026: Subscriber Tiers Replaced the Old Flat Rate

At 1,000 subscribers, the official pricing selector displayed Lite $19, Pro $25, and Everything $49 per month with annual billing selected; switching to monthly displayed $25, $28, and $54. Those are dated plan selections, not universal prices for any audience size. Lite includes one seat and supports subscriber tiers only up to 25,000. Pro includes two seats and unlimited workflows; Everything includes three seats and expanded commerce. Confirm the actual annual checkout total rather than treating a rounded monthly display or promotional label as an invoice.

The subscriber-billing guide dates the change to December 2, 2025. Old reviews describing unlimited subscribers for one flat fee are therefore unreliable for a new purchase. Eligible older customers may retain legacy Unlimited, but the legacy and signup guidance warns that cancellation or certain plan changes can remove eligibility. A screenshot of an existing creator's legacy bill is not proof that the same offer is available to you today.

Budget growth before choosing annual billing. At the displayed monthly Pro entry price, twelve unchanged months would be $28 times twelve, or $336, before taxes and other services; it is only an illustration with the subscriber count held constant. Annual savings and subsequent adjustments need the checkout quote and billing rules. Compare the same audience size and workflow against MailerLite and Kit/ConvertKit, rather than comparing one entry tier with a fully configured competing account.

Free, Trial, and Bonus Features Are Different Offers

Flodesk Free can collect subscribers through forms and landing pages but cannot run email campaigns or workflow automations. That makes it a list-building option, not a free sending plan. Trial access temporarily exposes paid capabilities; the signup documentation separately caps trial sending at 500 recipients per day. Do not plan a launch around a test account without checking the expiry, sending restrictions, and paid tier that will take over. Our free software guide uses the same distinction between permanent capability and temporary evaluation access.

The pricing page marks Lite's single workflow and Pro's single checkout as limited-time bonuses. These may be useful, but their presence is not a promise of an unconditional permanent entitlement. For a business needing several automated paths, Pro's core unlimited-workflow entitlement is the more defensible basis for a budget. Record the offer displayed at purchase and ask about continuing entitlement if the workflow is essential. Avoid buying an annual subscription on the assumption that every feature visible during a trial belongs to the eventual plan.

Run an evaluation that finishes before the commercial decision. Build a form, complete confirmation, deliver the promised resource, and test the rule that excludes buyers from inappropriate promotions. Check a second team member's access if collaboration matters. If those jobs cannot be demonstrated on the intended tier, the lower subscription price is not the useful price. The software evaluation framework helps document that pass/fail decision instead of treating a trial as proof of suitability.

Active Subscribers, Auto-Upgrades, and Annual Billing Exposure

The billing guide's detailed definition counts Active and Soft Bounced contacts, not every row in the database. Unconfirmed, unsubscribed, hard-bounced, spam-reported, cleaned, archived, and deleted statuses do not count. Crucially, Active describes subscription status, not recent engagement: someone who ignores campaigns may remain Active and billable. Segment membership does not duplicate a subscriber, but putting an inactive reader into an Unengaged segment does not itself archive that person. Use the account's billable count rather than adding segment totals or assuming low opens remove billing.

Growth notifications occur at 90%, 95%, and 100% of a subscriber allocation. Monthly plans move to the higher tier at the next billing date; annual plans are reviewed monthly and can incur prorated increases for the remaining term. Reductions are asymmetric: an annual subscriber-tier downgrade waits until renewal. Lite automatically moves to Pro beyond its 25,000-subscriber ceiling. These rules make a successful acquisition campaign a budget event, even if the current campaign keeps sending without interruption.

Assign someone to review status quality, acquisition sources, and the next tier before each larger campaign. Do not delete valid business records solely to produce a lower screenshot; preserve the consent and suppression evidence your process requires. The SaaS spending guide is relevant here because annual prepayment does not fix every usage variable. Plan a normal month and a launch month, then choose the contract after understanding both rather than equating automatic upgrades with cost predictability.

Workflows and Consent: Test the Exceptions, Not Just the Happy Path

The workflow guide documents triggers from segment entry, form submission, purchases, and supported abandoned carts. Up to six trigger branches can merge into one workflow, but abandoned-cart triggers cannot mix with other trigger types. Repeat subscribers require an enabled repeat setting and a waiting period, and someone already in a run cannot start a second concurrent run. These details decide whether a recurring lead magnet behaves correctly; a generic automation checkbox does not describe them.

Removing a subscriber from the original trigger segment does not stop an already-running workflow. If a purchase should end a sales sequence, design an explicit exit or condition for that outcome rather than assuming membership changes undo prior enrollment. Test a new signup, an existing subscriber, a repeat request after the cooldown, and an in-progress subscriber requesting again. These are proposed checks, not test results. The no-code workflow guide is useful when another system supplies the event, but you still need to validate both sides.

For accounts joining after April 2, 2026, double opt-in guidance says opt-in forms default to enabled confirmation. Settings are form-specific; confirmation content is account-wide, and existing Active subscribers are not reconfirmed by every form submission. Unconfirmed people do not receive campaign or workflow emails. Treat confirmation, marketing consent, and payment as distinct states. Domain authentication and responsible list collection support sending, but no editor, opt-in switch, or vendor reputation guarantees inbox placement or legal compliance.

A Campaign Acceptance Test: Readable Design and Measurable Follow-Up

A useful design evaluation uses the content you will actually publish: a long headline, a paragraph explaining the offer, one primary action, a plain-text fallback, and a prominent opt-out. Review the message on a narrow screen and with remote images disabled. If the headline and action disappear because they exist only inside a decorative image, the template has failed this brief even if its preview looks attractive. These are proposed acceptance checks, not observations from a Flodesk rendering benchmark.

Next, follow one promised outcome end to end. A lead who requests a worksheet should receive the intended resource after the required confirmation, reach a working download, and enter the correct follow-up path. A subscriber who already bought should not receive the same sales pitch indefinitely. Record what happened for each test identity and which conditions produced the result. Comparing successful outcomes is more useful than choosing the provider with the most branching controls.

Separate business measurement from email-editor metrics. Track resource requests, completed confirmation, useful replies, and purchases through the relevant systems, while recognizing that opens and tracked clicks are imperfect proxies for people taking action. Define an owner for broken links, expired offers, and outdated resources. This gives a creator an operating checklist that survives a redesign or platform move, rather than a one-time launch judged only by the appearance of its first campaign.

Checkout and Products: Eligibility and Plan Limits Matter

Commerce has two experiences to distinguish. The pricing page promotes a checkout bonus on Pro, while the newer Products guide describes a staged rollout: Pro supports unlimited published one-time products but one published sales page; Everything expands page capability and adds subscriptions and payment plans. Lite can draft products. Existing checkouts are not automatically converted. A product, a published page, and a checkout are not interchangeable units, so identify the experience available in your account before choosing a selling plan.

The supported-country list applies to the business's legal location, not simply where its owner lives or customers buy. It lists the US, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, and specified European countries, with territory restrictions. Pakistan is not currently listed, and Stripe support in a country alone does not establish Flodesk Checkout eligibility. This restriction concerns commerce; do not incorrectly turn it into a statement that every Flodesk email feature is unavailable there. Confirm the exact business jurisdiction before promising a checkout launch.

Flodesk says it does not add a transaction surcharge beyond Stripe processing, but processor fees still vary. Publishing Products requires the enabled Stripe connection even for a zero-dollar product. The checkout capability guide also distinguishes digital/service delivery from physical fulfillment: shipping addresses can be collected, but shipping fees are not collected. A merchant needing a full shipping and inventory operation should compare Shopify or WooCommerce rather than assuming a digital-product funnel replaces a store.

Exports and Cancellation: A List Is Not a Complete Migration

The export guide supports audience or segment CSV exports, delivered to the account's login email through a link that expires after 24 hours. Non-marketable statuses can be included. Inspect the actual columns and preserve unsubscribes, bounce status, and consent context before import elsewhere; an exported address is not automatic permission to market to it. Save the file securely and confirm who can retrieve it, especially when an agency manages the account for a client.

A subscriber CSV is not a portable copy of email designs, workflow branches, product delivery, analytics, and integration configuration. Record those separately and rebuild a representative journey in the destination before moving the audience. The Mailchimp alternatives guide gives broader options, but the same exit checklist applies whichever provider wins. Use a small authorized migration sample first, and keep the prior configuration available until confirmation, delivery, suppression, and purchase handling have been verified.

Cancellation guidance says paid service continues to the cycle's end before moving to Free; sending, workflows, and checkouts then stop. Stored content and list-building can remain, while full deletion is a separate action. An annual account scheduled for cancellation may still grow into a higher tier before the term ends. Review forms and connected acquisition sources when winding down rather than assuming the cancellation button immediately freezes every billing variable.

Final Verdict: A Design-Led Option with Explicit Boundaries

The 8.4 editorial score reflects the documented combination of design tools, list building, workflows, and creator commerce, offset by subscriber-based growth costs, bonus uncertainty, and checkout restrictions. It is not a conversion, support-speed, or deliverability measurement. Flodesk is worth considering when the intended operator can maintain its workflow and the commercial limits fit. It is a weaker choice when the requirement is free campaign sending, a complex physical store, or a feature demonstrated only by an older legacy account.

Shortlist Kit for a creator-centered alternative, MailerLite for another small-business email evaluation, and ActiveCampaign when more elaborate marketing automation is central. Recheck their current plans rather than importing stale pricing into this comparison. Choose after documenting the subscriber tier, required workflow behavior, checkout country, and export plan. The useful outcome is an operator who knows what happens when the audience grows, a subscriber opts out, or the business needs to leave.

Buyer checklist before choosing

Record the subscriber count, plan, billing cycle, checkout total, taxes, and bonus wording.
Check Active and Soft Bounced billing statuses; do not add segment totals or equate inactivity with archiving.
Test confirmation, delivery, repeat enrollment, and the explicit exit for a buyer who should stop receiving promotions.
Verify the legal business location and whether the account has legacy Checkout or the new Products experience.
Export a sample with suppression statuses and document workflows separately before moving the full list.

Pricing watchouts

Unlimited sends on paid plans does not mean unlimited subscribers at a fixed price.
Annual growth can generate prorated increases, while subscriber-tier reductions wait until renewal.
Lite's workflow and Pro's checkout are advertised as limited-time bonuses, not unconditional entitlements.
Cancellation at term end does not necessarily prevent growth charges during the remaining annual term.

Flodesk Pros and Cons

The Pros

Paid plans combine email design, forms, segmentation, and unlimited email sends, allowing a creator to model subscriber cost separately from sending frequency.

Pro's documented unlimited workflows and footer-branding control offer a clearer upgrade boundary than assuming every automation requires the highest plan.

The detailed billing guide identifies billable contact statuses, growth notifications, and different monthly-versus-annual adjustment rules.

Everything includes integrated commerce capabilities for eligible businesses, with recurring-payment options and no Flodesk transaction surcharge beyond processor charges.

Subscriber CSV exports and documented cancellation behavior make it possible to plan an exit without relying on a marketing promise of complete portability.

The Cons

The continuing Free plan builds a list but cannot send email or run workflows; temporary trial access is not the permanent free feature set.

New accounts do not receive the old unlimited-subscriber flat-rate deal. Automatic subscriber-tier increases can change the bill, including during an annual term.

Lite's one-workflow and Pro's one-checkout offers are marked limited-time bonuses. The newer Products experience has different terminology and staged availability.

Checkout supports a specific list of legal business locations, not every Stripe-supported country, and does not collect shipping charges.

A subscriber export does not recreate designs, workflow logic, consent handling, and checkout configuration on another platform. Annual downgrades can wait until renewal.

Implementation plan

1

Define the first campaign, opt-in journey, and named owner.

2

Configure domain authentication and relevant consent settings.

3

Use authorized test subscribers to check new, existing, unconfirmed, opted-out, and repeat cases.

4

If commerce is required, confirm eligibility and test delivery and payment behavior independently.

5

Review billable audience growth and retain a secure export plus configuration record.

Common FAQs

Is Flodesk free?
There is a continuing Free plan for forms, landing pages, and list building, but it does not include email sending or workflow automation. Paid-plan trial access is separate. A free-email shortlist should not treat Flodesk's collection-only tier as equivalent to a competitor that includes campaign sends.
Does Flodesk still have unlimited flat-rate pricing?
Not for new subscriptions. Subscriber-based pricing took effect December 2, 2025. Eligible older subscriptions can retain legacy Unlimited terms while maintained, but cancellation or certain plan changes can forfeit that arrangement. Unlimited sends on a new plan do not mean unlimited subscribers at one fixed price.
How much does Flodesk cost for 1,000 subscribers?
The October 6, 2026 pricing selector displayed Lite $19, Pro $25, and Everything $49 per month with annual billing selected. Monthly billing displayed $25, $28, and $54 respectively. Confirm the full checkout amount, taxes, and current offer; subscriber growth changes the allocation and price.
Does Flodesk count unsubscribed contacts toward pricing?
Its detailed billing guide counts Active and Soft Bounced contacts. Unconfirmed, unsubscribed, hard-bounced, spam-reported, cleaned, archived, and deleted statuses do not count. An unengaged contact can still be Active: moving that contact into an Unengaged segment alone does not reduce billing.
Can I use Flodesk Checkout in any country?
No. Checkout requires a business legally based in a specifically supported country or territory, plus the required payment setup. The current list includes selected European countries and several other markets, but not Pakistan or every country Stripe supports. Email and form use is a separate availability question; verify the exact legal business location before planning sales.
Is Flodesk Pro enough for selling digital products?
Check which commerce experience is enabled. Pricing labels a single checkout as a limited-time Pro bonus, while the newer Products help guide documents unlimited one-time products with one published sales page on Pro. Everything adds subscriptions, payment plans, and broader page capabilities. Products is rolling out, so do not equate a product, a sales page, and a legacy checkout.
What happens if I cancel Flodesk?
At the end of the paid billing cycle, the account moves to Free: email sending, workflows, and checkouts stop, while list-building and stored content remain under the documented policy. Account deletion is separate. An annual account with a scheduled cancellation can still receive growth-related prorated adjustments before its term ends.
